A Parent’s Guide to Controlling AI Use on an iPhone

Artificial intelligence is now built into everyday tools your teenage daughter already uses—search engines, social media, writing apps, and chat platforms. While AI can be helpful for schoolwork and creativity,it can also expose teens to inappropriate content, emotional manipulation, or unsafe conversations.

The good news is this: parents do have control. While Apple does not offer a single “AI off switch,” you can put effective guardrails in place using tools already built into the iPhone.

1. Start with Screen Time (Your Most Powerful Tool)

Screen Time is the foundation of all parental controls on an iPhone.

Settings → Screen Time → Select your child’s device
