Retired now, Grant has turned his expertise toward artificial intelligence. His latest book, AI Prompts, teaches everyone how to use AI safely, confidently, and productively.

Grant Ingraham is an engineer, author, and veteran technical communicator who has spent more than 50 years translating complex ideas into clear, practical guidance for ordinary people. Since 1973, his work has focused on helping non-technical audiences understand subjects that often feel intimidating—from writing hundreds of owner’s manuals for consumer products to explaining physics, engineering, and safety concepts to audiences everywhere.

His career includes consulting with federal, state, local, and international agencies such as the CPSC, NFPA, and USPTO; educating business leaders, attorneys, judges, and engineers; and writing standards and instructional materials used across industries. In the computer field, Grant programmed, maintained, operated, and sold a wide range of computing systems, developing complete software packages for both businesses and individuals while continually teaching users how to get the most from their technology.

Since retiring in 2012, Grant has devoted himself to studying, using, and writing about artificial intelligence. His latest book, AI Prompts, serves as a beginner’s guide that walks readers from their very first interaction with ChatGPT to confident, safe, and productive AI use.

Today, Grant is committed to correcting misinformation about AI and helping everyday people understand it as what it truly is: a powerful tool that must be understood to be used well.
